Two fan boys and two long time friends talking about everything that's nerdtastic!

High and Dry by Radiohead

Hey guys! I wanted to share one of the greatest music videos made and why. This is one of my all time favorite videos. I remember the first time I saw it, it was out of the ordinary to me. Most videos I have seen up to this point weren’t filmed like this one, they were all about the band. The band is either playing a live event, or they are incorporated into the video somehow. The same formula done over and over. Then I saw High and Dry, this was the most amazing thing I ever saw. I watched MTV for days to catch it again so I could record it.

Directed by Paul Cunningham and from the 1995 album The Bends, what made it different is that the video is shot almost like a short film. The only time you see the band is in the beginning when they are walking up to the restaurant, then Thom Yorke in the bathroom and that’s it. They don’t play the song, or even sing it.

The patrons of the restaurant can be seen singing along to the song and I thought this was a beautiful touch. No matter how many times its viewed or discussed a new theory is always produced either by myself or others I talk to about it. I can can go and on about it, but it is best for you to check it out on your own. I hope that when you do watch it, or perhaps you’ve already seen it and can agree with me, what a beautiful music video/film it is, and song.
