“Tom’s Diner” is a song written in 1981 by American recording artist Suzanne Vega. It was first released as a track on the January 1984 issue of Fast Folk Musical Magazine. When first featured on one of her own studio albums, it appeared as the first track of her Solitude Standing album in 1987. It was later used as the basis for a remix by the British group DNA in 1990. This is my favorite song of all time. I can listen to it over and over again. The words are kind of meh, but when combined with that beat, the whole is an amazing song. Vega’s original version is a capella. To me, it really is not that great until DNA adds the beat. Below is the original version so you can judge for yourself.
