Posted by on Jun 28, 2015 in Podcasts, Uncategorized | 0 comments

In this fantastic episode we are joined by Micah Myers to talk about the the ins and outs of lettering comic books! There was a lot we learned on this show believe it or not. He was a fantastic guest and super cool dude. His wife was also here. Giggling in the background. Micah tells us what it takes to be a letterer and the process that follows. We also go over a comic book quiz where Micah holds his own, and the wonderful world of digression follows. When you get a bunch of nerds in the room its difficult to stay on topic. Also, Dan puts the guys over at FilmFad in their place for talking smack about him.   Any questions for us, let us know! or @collidingnerds and check us out on Facebook! Any questions...

BK Red Burgers

Posted by on Jun 19, 2015 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

Remember the black burgers from BK Japan? Well, they’re at it again! That’s right,  red burgers! Here’s the article from In September 2014, Burger King Japan rocked the burger world by introducing its all-black-everything Kuro Burger. But the international burger-slinging chain wasn’t done. Now, it’s introducing two new all-red burgers for chicken and beef lovers in Japan. Keep in mind that “Aka” means “red.” The red buns and cheese on both get at least some of their color from tomato powder. Both burgers come with Angry Sauce (amazing name), which features miso and doubanjiang—a spicy Sichuan fermented bean paste. Meanwhile, the Aka Samurai Chicken features lettuce and tomato with a fried chicken patty. Both Aka burgers will be available from July 3rd until mid-August. The Aka Samurai Chicken will set you back 540 yen (US$4.36), while the Aka...

Jim Butcher, author of the Dresden Files and The Codex Alera

Posted by on Jun 17, 2015 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

Wednesdays are kind of free-for-all days here at WNC. No specific topic, just whatever strikes our fancy. Today, I would like to recommend one of my favorite authors. This won’t be a review or even a comprehensive look at this author, just a brief glance at him and his work. I have recommended this author before and his stuff is always good, whether the first read-thru or a re-read, and I even did an episode of the Heroes and Villains podcast about his most popular character. The author I’m referring to is Jim Butcher, author of the Dresden Files and The Codex Alera.  Jim is truly one of us, and it shows, especially in the many references made throughout the Dresden books. The Dresden Files is about Harry Dresden, a wizard living in modern-day Chicago. So far,  there are sixteen books...

Another of my favorite Legionnaires is Thunder. Essentially a female version of Captain Marvel(Shazam), CeCe Beck was created by Jerry Ordway & Mike Manley and appearing in DC Comics. An associate of the Marvel Family of superheroes, Thunder (the alter ego of CeCe Beck, or simply “Beck”), is a far-future recipient of the power of Shazam. Her first appearance was the first The Power of Shazam! Annual #1(1996). Thunder is the super-powered alter-ego of a young girl from the planet Binderaan, circa 9,000 A.D. (when she finds herself in the 30th century, she exclaims that she’s 6,000 years in the past). The power of Shazam is bestowed upon Thunder not by the wizard Shazam himself, but his successor Captain Marvel. By the time of Beck’s life, Captain Marvel has become a bearded old man. As with her predecessor Captain Marvel,...
